Glossier Makeup for Beginners: 7 products for an easy routine

7 Glossier Essentials | Makeup for Beginners

Are you new to makeup? Looking for an easy everyday makeup routine? Interested in Glossier but not sure where to start? You’ve come to the right place.

To preface, I’ve tried every single Glossier makeup product. I’ve always lived a “less is more” beauty mantra and Glossier’s mission closely aligns with my routine.

While putting together this curated list of Glossier makeup for beginners, I selected Glossier products that are perfect for beginners or anyone that wants easy-to-apply makeup essentials that enhances their natural beauty.  So with that, here are my recommendations:

Perfecting Skin Tint

For a makeup beginner, this is a perfect introduction to wearing “foundation.” I put that in quotes because anyone who’s tried this knows this is not even close to a foundation. It has a sheer, dewy finish. This will even out your skin tone so you look fresh for the day.

How to use: Shake well first. Apply with your fingers or a beauty sponge.

Stretch Concealer

This is a buildable product that you can use on the areas that require a little more coverage. Maybe you want to cover up some redness or mute under eye circles.

How to use: You can apply this with your finger, a sponge or a concealer brush. Personally, I find that using my fingers work best as it melts into skin.

You can shop the Perfecting Skin Tint + Stretch Concealer duo here.

Boy Brow | Grooming Pomade

I have never invested much time or money into my brows (other than occasional trips to the aesthetician to have them cleaned up occasionally). Boy Brow will enhance your brows by making them look fuller, defined and stay in place. If you’re unsure what shade will suit you, then go for clear.

How to use: Use the wand to brush brow hairs in short, upward strokes to fluff and groom into place. I like to wipe off the excess formula when I open a fresh tube. A little goes a long way!

Lash Slick | Mascara

The more I use this mascara, the more I love it. It’s a lengthening mascara so it will perfectly separate and define and make you look like you have lash extensions. I love how buildable it is and the best part—it’s easy to remove at night with any basic makeup remover.

How to use: Comb the wand through the lashes from roots to tip.

Cloud Paint | Cream Blush

While I only use Cloud Paint on my cheeks, I’ve seen multiple posts from other customers sharing looks using cloud paint shades on their lids and lips. On social media, I often get asked what shades work best for everyday and I always recommend going with shades that compliment your skin tone. That said, I do think Puff (cool pink), Dusk (brown nude) and Storm (warm rose) are generally great for everyday wear.

How to use: There’s really no wrong way to apply this but I find that these paints work best when you use your fingers. Gently tap (don’t rub) the color onto the apple of your cheeks.

Application tip: It comes in a squeeze tube so occasionally it deposits more product than you’ll actually need, so do this—poke a hole in the cover so you don’t waste any product!

Haloscope | Face Highlighter

Glossier has a few highlighters: Haloscope and FutureDew (if you choose to use on top of makeup). Haloscope offers a subtle glow and is so easy to apply. I can’t recommend this enough for a makeup beginner who wants to add a little something extra to their makeup look!

How to use: Glide the stick directly on the high points of your face (brow bone, cheekbone, temples, cupid’s bow and bridge of nose) and tap lightly to blend the edges out.

Balm Dotcom | Skin Salve

Glossier offers quite a few different lip products: Balm Dotcom, Generation G matte lipstick, Lip Gloss, and Ultralip. Personally, I think Balm Dotcom is the best no-fuss favorite among the group. Four of the eight shades are tinted and all of them give you the nourishment your lips need. Rose has always been a favorite of mine (sheer pink tint) but most recently Mint (untinted) has become my new go-to.

You can purchase The Makeup Set, which bundles Boy Brow, Haloscope, Cloud Paint and Balm Dotcom together.

*Bonus Beauty*

Although, this didn’t make the original cut I feel compelled to include it for those who want to add a little more to their eye makeup routine.

Lidstar | Glistening Eyeshadow

Glossier offers two types of eyeshadows: Lidstar and Skywash. Lidstar is the shimmery, eye glistening shadow for those that want a sheer veil of color. Skywash is a sheer, matte lid tint. My purpose for this post was to share easy, no fuss makeup essentials that won’t complicate your routine and as someone who has tried both products, I think Lidstar is much easier to apply and looks effortless and natural.

How to use: Take the wand and dab it directly onto eyelids. Blend with your finger or use a fluffy eyeshadow brush.

You can shop Glossier here or on Sephora.com. I do make a small commission on purchases made through my link. Thank you for your support!
