Where do you prefer to shop for your beauty products? Ulta? Sephora? Nordstrom? I’m always thinking twice before I purchase a product because first and foremost, I like to make sure I’m getting the best deal possible.
I like to shop online but if I’m on the hunt for a new foundation or concealer I like to be in-store to swatch and figure out my match. When it comes to shopping in store, I love visiting my local Ulta. I’ve always had a good experience when shopping there. I thought in today’s post, I’d share why I love shopping at Ulta and my tips for getting the most bang for your buck.
1. You Get Rewarded When You Shop
First and foremost, the points! I love that I earn points when I shop at Ulta. The points rack up so quickly and I love that I save money the next time I shop. I’m a Platinum Rewards Member, so my points never expire, which is great. I usually save them for the end of the calendar year to shop for holiday gifts for friends and family.
2. I Always Have a Coupon
Ulta sends catalogs to my house on a regular basis so I have an opportunity to see what kind of deals being offered, events and of course, coupons! There’s always a $3.50 off coupon or a 20% off one full-price item on the back cover of the catalog. There are some exclusions on prestige beauty brands but for the most part I can always rely on using a coupon and saving even more during my trip.
3. They Have a Wide Selection
Ulta is a one-stop shop for prestige brands (NARS, MAC, Stila), mid-range and drugstore beauty. However, I wouldn’t recommend shopping for drugstore beauty at Ulta because it is VERY overpriced. Don’t get me wrong, I love Ulta and there’s a reason I’m writing a post about why I love shopping here, but coming here for drugstore beauty products is not one of them! Drugstore products at Ulta are at least $3 more than what you can buy at Target or CVS. Unless there’s a deal going on or you have points to use, I wouldn’t bother.
4. There’s Plenty of Room
Most of the Ulta stores I’ve visited have always been very spacious. In other words, lots of room to roam the store without having to worry about people bumping into you. Take note, Sephora.
5. They Don’t Just Sell Products
Each salon offers haircuts, hair coloring, facials, and waxing. It sounds a little weird, getting your hair done in the same place you buy your beauty products, I know. But believe it or not, I actually used to get haircuts and color services at my local one all the time.
I first started going there for quick bang trims and over time, got to know, the gal cutting my bangs, that I decided to give it a try with a haircut and color. I think I paid less than $200 for a cut, highlights and blow dry. In this region, that’s a really good deal!
If you prefer to shop online, I think Ulta has a pretty decent online experience. They offer free shipping when you spend at least $50.
Yes to all of this! I prefer shopping in-store st Ulta whereas with Sephora it’s easier to shop online and away from their over-crowded aisles. Completely agree on the drugstore prices too— stores like CVS and RiteAud ALWAYS have good sales on beauty that are hard to beat!
Right?! I’m so glad I’m not alone on this!
