Read My Lips with Chain Strap Purse’s Alison Coglianese

Hello lovely Politics of Pretty readers! I’m Alison from Chain Strap Purse and am so excited to be guest posting for Kara today. She is definitely one of my go-to beauty gurus, and I was so happy when she asked me to share some of my favorite lip products with you all!

I’ve always considered my beauty routine to be pretty low maintenance. But next to nail polish, lip gloss and lipstick are the beauty items I collect the most.

The Treatment:
I tend to break lip products into two categories: day and night. First and foremost, I like to start off the day with something that’s going to protect my lips from the elements. Whether it’s hot and sunny or cold and windy, our environment can be pretty harsh. The Daily Conditioning Treatment by Blistex has been a favorite for years. Not only is it SPF 20, but it goes on clear and has some menthol in it to bring out your lips’ natural color while giving them a slight plump. I also love Fresh Sugar Lip Balm. It’s a bit more balmy but has a great flavor and is SPF 15.

The Gloss:
I’m also a huge fan of lip gloss. I’ve tried so many over the years but have really grown to love Chantecaille Brilliant Gloss in Lucky. It’s not sticky and adds just a little bit of shimmer. If I need something that has a bit more color, I reach for Stila Lip Glaze in Bubble Gum. It’s the perfect shade of light pink and goes with everything.

The Pout:
And then, of course, there’s lipstick. I believe every girl needs a bright red, bright pink and a dewey, barely there color in their arsenal. I’ve recently been obsessed with NARS Lipstick in Schiap. People say that it’s truly the best bright pink out there and I have to agree. When it comes to red, however, I sometimes have trouble choosing a fiery color since I’m a redhead myself. My favorite as of late is Revlon Super Lustrous Creme Lipstick in Certainly Red. It has blue undertones so it doesn’t clash with my hair or skin and still gives me that classic and bold red lip that I love. For a more subdued, natural look, I use MAC’s Cremesheen in Creme Cup. It has a bit of moisture to it so it’s not as dry as traditional lipstick and is the perfect finish to fresh summer makeup.

If you have any favorites I’d love to hear what they are! And feel free to stop by my blog, Chain Strap Purse, anytime!

XO, Alison
