The Best Moisturizing Lip Balms

Best Moisturizing Lip Balms - Politics of Pretty

I heavily rely on the best moisturizing lip balms during the cold winter months. Usually insufferable chapped lips hit me in January when it’s really really cold but I’ve been sick this week and I find myself frequently reaching for some to keep my lips nice and soft.

I’m a tough critic when it comes to lip balms. First and foremost, they need to be moisturizing for a solid few hours (at least), they need to feel good on my lips (I hate that sticky, smothering feeling), and it’d be nice if they eliminate lip lines. Bonus points if I can get that Victoria’s Secret model pout. Hey a girl can dream right?!

I’ve been lucky to discover five moisturizing lip balms that have found a permanent residence in my makeup bag. Here’s my take on each them and why I’ve been rotating them ‘round the clock:

IT Cosmetics Je Ne Sais Quoi Hydrating Color Awakening Lip Treatment (c/o)—I keep this in my LV bag at all times. This tube smooths away lip lines and has the perfect flush of pink so my lips have just a hint of color for a natural finish.

Glossier Cherry Flavored Balm Dotcom—My affinity for Glossier started with their original scentless skin salve but the cherry flavored tube has been my go-to since I’ve fallen ill. I just scooped up the Rose flavored one on Cyber Monday.

Kaplan MD Lip 20 Balm Ultra Hydrating Treatment + SPF—I first discovered this in my Mask Magic series and this was the star product. I apply this each night before bed so I don’t wake up with sore, cracked lips in the morning. It’s super thick so I don’t recommend wearing this during the day.

Vaseline Rosy Lip Therapy Holiday Sweater Tin (c/o)—This new limited edition holiday sweater design is the same Lip Therapy Tin you know and love… with just a slightly cuter outfit. I like keeping this portable tin at my desk at work for quick, non-sticky lip pick-me-up.

Fresh Sugar Lip Treatment — I’ve been a fan of this these moisturizing lip balms for so long, but I especially love the tinted lip shades. I haven’t had the chance to try every tube but you can never go wrong with a staple soft pink (Petal) or warm nude (Honey) for every day wear. If you love Fresh as much as I do or want to sample their tinted lip collection, you should check out their limited-edition Sugar Lip Seduction gift set.
