Lauren Conrad Beauty Review: Swatches & First Impressions
I’m really excited about today’s makeup post. I’ve been a long-time fan/follower of Lauren Conrad since her MTV reality show days. I’ve purchased all of her coffee table books, read her blog and own a few pieces from her affordable clothing line at Kohl’s.
When I think of Lauren Conrad, I think about her signature makeup look: a cat eye and a bold red lip. Naturally, those are two items in her collection and at the top of my shopping list when I saw she launched a makeup collection.
The line includes five products as of now (with plans to expand from what I read online): a semi-matte lipstick, a liquid eyeliner, a lip + cheek tint, a liquid highlighter, and lip gloss. The line is marketed as environmentally-friendly, ethically-sourced and vegan “so you can feel good about what you’re putting on your skin,” according to her direct-to-consumer website.
I’m all for ethically-sourced, cruelty-free, vegan formulas; however, green washing is running rampant in the beauty industry because it’s trendy right now. I always hesitate about brands that market their products as “clean” when we know there are no standards in place for beauty products to be considered “clean.” That said, the beauty line is formulated without a lot of ingredients that I definitely can’t pronounce and her website is pretty transparent about what is/isn’t in these products.
The makeup junkie in me wanted to purchase all five products but the beauty minimalist in me decided against that and opt for just three. The price point also held me back from splurging—these products are not cheap!
I decided to purchase the liquid eyeliner, the lipstick (in the shade Dahlia) and the lip and cheek tint (in peony). Each product I purchased retails for $20 each. Here is my Lauren Conrad Beauty review and first impressions.
The Lauren Conrad Lipstick
I am the most excited about the lipstick, despite the fact that I don’t have a special occasion to wear it. The semi-matte Lipstick comes in four shades and I chose Dahlia, a beautiful berry/fuchsia. It’s made with shea butter, grapeseed oil and argan oil. I’m hoping I can get more use out of it during the fall season because it’s a gorgeous berry lipstick. It feels very moisturizing on the lips.
The Lauren Conrad Liquid Eyeliner
I haven’t been wearing much eyeliner in quarantine but this liquid liner has definitely given me inspiration to add a little bit of glam to my routine. The felt tip does a great job of hugging my lash line but it does take a few minutes to dry. Once it does, it really does last all day. I didn’t deal with any smudging and I have slightly hooded eyes so it’s easy for liner to smudge into my crease so that’s a big plus for me.
The Lauren Conrad Lip & Cheek Tint in Peony
A two-in-one beauty product is perfect for the makeup minimalist. I did not expect to love this so much but the texture is soft, easy to blend and leaves a dewy finish on the cheekbones. Unfortunately, the tint only comes in one shade – peony, a soft dusty peach. It’s not a shade I would normally reach for so hopefully they expand the shade range. I did love how it looked on my lips—it’s a really great everyday lip and cheek color.

I pretty much love everything Lauren Conrad touches – even if that makes me a basic B. Your the first one I’ve seen to review the pieces!
I know, right?! I’ve always loved her style. I placed my order pretty much as soon as it launched online! haha Thanks so much for reading. xo
My order just came and I’m so excited to try dawn (gloss) and juneberry lipstick. The colors are gorgeous and appreciate the minimal packaging. However, I felt like the lipstick bullet size is smaller than regular bullets. Am I imagining this? For the price, I wish it was regular sized bullet. 🙁
That’s so exciting, Jenny! You’ll have to keep me posted about the gloss. I’ll have to take a closer look at the lipstick bullet but I think you may be right, and I don’t see product amount on the website. My biggest gripe about this collection is the price point. Thanks so much for reading!
