I’ve been a Beauty Insider for years and highly recommend you sign up if you’re not one already. Don’t worry, it’s free to sign up and you’ll gain access to perks such as early access to launches, promotions and more.

This is the beauty minimalist’s guide to the best makeup and skincare picks, as well as sets to give or get. I’ve tried so many brands and products and I’m excited to share with you my tried and true favorites.

Skincare Picks

Farmacy Filling Good Serum (review here)
I used this serum every night for the last six months or so and restocked back in October because I love this formula so much. It took about two weeks before I started to notice an improvement in my complexion (think smooth, plump, hydrated skin). I’ve read some negative reviews centered on the smell but I must be the outlier – I’ve never had an issue with the scent, in fact I kind of like it.

Laneige Cica Sleeping Mask (review here)
This is a must-have for the colder months, especially if your skin gets irritated easily. The key ingredient is forest yeast extract, which helps deeply nourish skin. It’s described as an overnight mask but really it feels more like a nighttime moisturizer. Laneige is an affordable skincare brand that I highly recommend!

The INKEY List Blemish Night Treatment
I get hormonal acne from time to time and have had good experiences with this overnight blemish treatment. I had one bad pimple that formed on my chin after my cycle and I applied this gel formula before bed. By morning, it was significantly less noticeable and after the third night it was completely gone.

Kiehl’s Creamy Eye Treatment with Avocado
Another skincare recommendation for those with sensitive skin. Here’s an eye cream that will stay put and not burn the skin around the eyes. It’s made with avocado oil to hydrate, smooth and brighten the under-eye area. I find it to be a tad greasy so I typically only use it at night.

First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair Cream Intense Hydration
It’s fast absorbing and doesn’t leave an oily finish. If you have very dry, sensitive or eczema-prone skin, this intense hydrator will help with any flare ups. They also have a limited-edition giftable set here.

Indie Lee Toner (review here)
My go-to toner that evens everything out, increases brightness and isn’t formulated with alcohol so it won’t dry skin out. Also great for a post-workout refresh.

Makeup Picks

Benefit Precisely, My Brow Pencil Waterproof Eyebrow Definer
It’s been years since I purchased a brow pencil – I’ve always used brow powder and pomade; however, this pencil might be the easiest tool when it comes to shaping and filling in brows. It looks very natural and easy to make hair-like strokes. For reference, I wear shade 3.5 (neutral medium brown).

Rare Beauty Perfect Strokes Universal Volumizing Mascara
As much as I love Glossier Lash Slick, I also want a volumizing mascara I can add to my lash wardrobe. This one is new from Rare Beauty and overall I’m really impressed with how much thicker my lashes look after a couple of coats. My only complaint is that it’s not as easy to wash off at night so make sure you use an oil-based cleanser. If you don’t want to commit to the full-size tube, they have a mini available.

Charlotte Tilbury Mini Airbrush Flawless Finish Setting Powder
I’m recommending specifically the mini pressed powder because I find most CT products to be overpriced, despite the fact that I love so many of their products. I use this to set my concealer and I’ve never experienced any creasing or cakey makeup looks.

Tower 28 BeachPlease Lip + Cheek Cream Blush (review here)
If you have dry or sensitive skin, this cream blush is a must-have. I have the shade Magic Hour, a rosy nude, which also doubles as a tinted lip balm. The formula is lightweight but dewy and pigmented and blends like a dream.

Tarte Tartelette Toasted Palette
My favorite warm-toned eyeshadow palette that is so beautiful and rich in pigment and easy to blend. If you like browns, nudes and orange-toned shadows then add this to your cart.

ILIA Super Serum Skin Tint SPF 40
The best dewy foundation for makeup minimalists that prefer light coverage and it’s packed with hyaluronic acid. I wear the shade Balos ST3 (very light with neutral cool undertones) and it’s a perfect match.

Beauty Gift Sets

I’m really impressed with the beauty sets they have this year. There’s no better time to shop for gifts than during the Sephora holiday savings event. I’ve narrowed down to sets that are on my own wish list or ones I’ve tried in the past.
