I hope your 2019 is off to a fantastic start. I feel like it’s been a while since I personally checked in and share with you how I’m staying organized in 2019 and a peek into my January beauty obsessions (no new products though). I made the decision to stop shopping for the month of January so I can get my finances in order and save.
Two months before Thanksgiving, I was living off unemployment checks (and let me tell you, they are basically pennies) and it was rough! I am so grateful I was able to secure a job but then the holiday shopping season snuck up on me. I definitely overspent during the holidays and now I’m paying the price.
My first and last purchase of January has been this amazing planner book I got at Michaels for 50% off. This is my 3rd year using a daily planner and to say I’m obsessed is an understatement. For me this wasn’t a frivolous purchase, this is a necessity to keeping me organized in 2019.
I’ve committed to not shop during the month of January and only allocate for necessary expenses: groceries, gas, student loans (ugh I’m 30 and still paying off a student loan), electricity, and a few lunches/dinners out.
I’m not going to lie; week one went by painfully slow. I didn’t have any weekend plans others than a trip to the grocery store and my OrangeTheory Fitness class, so it was the perfect opportunity to clean my apartment and blog!
My goal is to save $1,000 this month. I have no idea if that’s even reasonable but when I crunch some numbers, I think it will be doable. If I’m able to successfully reach my savings goal then I’m going to carry this into February (it’s such a short month anyways).
On the beauty front, I’m been enjoying and using all the products currently in my stash. Here are four beauty obsessions that I’ve been focused on this month.
Recharging my skin— from overnight brightening treatments to hydrating masks and body polish, I’m doing my best to be proactive about my winter skincare routine. The weather in Maryland hasn’t been too cold but I’m sure that will change soon.
Moisturizing Lippies—I’m really loving this lip gloss from Fenty Beauty and I’ve got a few other tinted lip balms in rotation to prevented chapped lips.
A dewy, glowy complexion— Love me some dew. I notice I’m less focused on heavy eye makeup and more into tinted moisturizers, highlighters and a flushed complexion.
Clean beauty products—I’m still very much on a clean beauty kick. Between my Herbivore skincare products and The Healthy Deodorant, I know I’ll be buying more clean beauty products when I’m off my shopping hiatus.
Happy New Year! My goal is to save $1,000k this month too…here’s hoping we can do it. I told myself if need be I can just eat peanut butter to survive, ha.
Thanks for the link to the planner! I got one for my blog/website but wanted one for work as well and just couldn’t find one I liked.

Happy New Year! I kid you not, I have eaten PB & Jelly sandwiches for lunch twice this week so far. Ha! Peanut butter can take you far! Glad you liked the planner! Thanks so much for reading. xx
