There are few places I grin and bare it for… organic spray tans, my boyfriend, the lady who waxes me at Sandy Nails, and then of course, Intimacy Tysons Corner, the amazing bra fitting shop.
Two years ago I experienced my first bra fitting with the founder Susan Nethero, also dubbed as the “bra whisperer” by Oprah (they’re like, besties now). While it’s not the cheapest lingerie shopping experience, it was definitely memorable (and worth every penny). I walked out with a wardrobe of bras to last me up until… last weekend. So when I was invited back to celebrate their 20th anniversary, I immediately RSVPed yes! Before I divulge about my new additions, let me tell you why this experience is so different from any other lingerie store.

First, you’re not sifting through drawers and racks of bras and underwear. You’re in the fitting room and the sales associate is finding you all bras, panties and bathing suits you could fancy. Harriet, my bra fit stylist and the store manager, took care of me during my fitting. I told her exactly what I needed and she delivered (in many, many bras). Then when I mentioned I was getting ready for a nice long beach week with my boyfriend, she came back… with sexier bras, lingerie and even a bathing suit.
This experience is all about the fit. Your perfect bra size is not found with measuring tape. It’s all about the band around your bra, not the straps, when it comes to support (and for the record, it should be tight). For the longest time I always thought I was a 34B. Turns out I’m a 30C. And yes, I just announced my bra size on the internet.
And let’s not forget the bras are really, really pretty. The store boasts popular labels like Marie Jo, Chantelle, Panache, and other European brands. There was not one bra I tried on that I disliked for its style or color. And right now, there’s this whole pin-up look that seems to be trending in lingerie so I promise, you won’t feel anything short of sexy when you trying them on. Two matching bra and panty sets and a bathing suit later, I was fully stocked once again.
