You know what always gets me in a festive mood? A holiday red lip!
From classic mattes to glossy lacquers, I’ve rounded up a small handful of my favorite tried and true holiday red lipsticks.
MAC Cosmetics Retro Matte Lipstick in Ruby Woo
This shade from MAC is an opaque cherry red with a matte finish. This formula has blue undertones so it will be flattering on just about any skin tone and makes your teeth look whiter. This looks great with a trace of liquid eyeliner, some concealer and a couple coats of mascara. Lip liner is a must thought. My only complaint is it starts to dry out after several hours so I wouldn’t recommend this if you have very dry lips.
Rare Beauty Lip Souffle Matte Cream Lipstick
I’m a huge fan of liquid lipstick formulas and this one from Selena Gomez’s makeup line is so good. Inspire is a bright red hue that dries down to a matte finish and feels very comfortable on the lips. What I love about this particular shade is that it doesn’t feel quite as flashy. It looks very romantic for any occasion and will not dry out your lips!
Smashbox Be Legendary Lipstick
This is one of my favorite lipsticks to wear during the holiday season, especially when I’m in the mood for something with a satin finish. This is more of a pink/red that looks really flattering on cool-toned skin. It’s deeply pigmented, cheery and the perfect pick-me-up to wear for any occasion.
NARS Velvet Matte Lip Pencil in Cruella
This is an oldie but goodie in my collection! This formula is a gorgeous blue-red lipstick that combines the pigment of a long-lasting lipstick with the convenience of a pencil so you can carry it in your clutch or handbag for touch-ups.
Glossier Ultralip in Fête
This is the easiest no-fuss lipstick if you love a moisturizing formula that has a nice sheen to it (full review here). It’s described as a “watermelon red” and is sheer compared to the others so it works great for daytime makeup looks. Get 10% off when you shop through my link here.
