My trend crush on neon sparked when I first wore this outfit for a Washingtonian magazine fashion shoot. Then, last weekend I went shopping in Harbor East in Baltimore (seriously, one of my favorite locations in Baltimore) and fell in love with these shoes at J.Crew (25 percent off!). It was then I realized what was next on my hit list: neon pink lipstick.
Sure, I have probably plenty of lipsticks at home, but when a girl craves a new lipstick, she goes to her nearest drugstore and picks up a couple more… just in case. After many swatches and neon pouts later, I rounded up my favorite tried and true favorites.
Maybelline Color Sensational Vivids Lip Color in Pink Pop ($6)—I consider this purchase to be fate (and extremely good timing) because it was the last one left of its shade. I couldn’t be happier with the results—a pretty matte neon hue that wears (and fades) extremely well.
NARS Satin Lip Pencil in Yu ($25)—NARS color pigments are really like no other. While this shade is a bit deeper of a hue, it’s perfect for on-the-go touch-ups.
Stila After Glow Lip Color in Electric Pink ($18)—Stila’s new lip collection for summer falls nothing short of bright and fun (glow in the dark lips? Yes please!). I love the pencil application, making it the perfect nighttime staple I like to stash in my clutch.
Maybelline ColorSensational High Shine Lip Gloss in Electric Shock ($6)—If you prefer gloss over lipstick, you’ll love this drugstore buy (another by Maybelline). I actually layered this on top of my Vivids lipstick when I was craving a more intense shade.
Have a favorite shade of neon pink lipstick? I’d love to hear your recommendations!
I think this is so bold and fun! I have a pink lipstick, but I’ve been trying to lay off for a little because my lips are so chapped. Perfect for summer, though!
oh no! I like to coat my lips in a plain chapstick (like Maybelline Baby Lips or something) before applying lipstick. It keeps my lips hydrated and looking smooth.
Loveee these suggestions, I’ve been scoping out the best bright lip as far as durability and hue — I’m really liking the ColorSensational lippies, though I do tend to find that the more expensive brands like Mac or Nars do end up lasting longer throughout the day.
