The PB&J of Beauty

Matchmaker, matchmaker, make me a match…

I’m no Patti Stanger (though I did interview her once), but when it comes to pairing beauty products, it comes naturally.

Here are my favorite couples:

I love this pinch-proof bright aquamarine Sephora eyelash curler ($16), which means it’s easy to spot in the makeup bag. Make Up For Ever’s Smoky Lash Mascara ($22) is my current go-to. I have yet to experience any sort of clump with this and it’s easy to remove at night.

If you’re not using a protective heat spray when you’re blow drying your hair, you may as well just light your hair on fire. I love Redken’s Spray Starch 15 (about $14) because it protects your tresses against heat and eliminates any static.

I never put on lipstick without priming my lips. Lip balm  will help make it easier for any colored lip you plan for, just remember to not apply directly after. I swear by Maybelline‘s Baby Lips (about $4). Otherwise, there’s a good chance Laura Mercier‘s gel lipstick ($22) will end up smeared on the side of your face.

And the exception: the staple nail threesome, you just can’t break-up.

Deborah Lippmann’s base coat (a fab nail treatment, Turn Back Time), color (Mermaid’s Dream) and top coat (my favorite, Addicted to Speed).
