In My Makeup Bag: Spring Beauty Picks

Spring Beauty Picks - Politics of Pretty

Spring is in the air… and in my makeup bag. I’m slowly but surely breaking out new products that fit into a small window of time for me to primp before I leave for work. Right now I’m all about blush, bronzer and a dewy complexion. While my stash is somewhat small, here’s a quick list of my spring beauty picks in this moment.

I’ve never really worn foundation (primarily because it feels smothering on my skin) and beauty experts have always said that I don’t need it anyways, but I was so intrigued by this new cushion compact trend. I scooped up Maybelline Dream Cushion (I wear #10 Porcelain) at my local Ulta and was pleasantly surprised. This is why I love cushion compacts: I can control the amount of coverage and a little goes a long way.

Next on my list: Glossier Cloud Paint. Not gonna lie, I was totally captivated by the diffused cheek color that you can apply with just fingertips. I’ve been using this powder blush daily, but I’ve been on the hunt for a pretty peach hue so I opted for Beam. I also got Dusk knowing it was too dark of a pigment to wear as blush, but it’s perfect for contouring! I’ve been applying it on the hollows of my cheeks and on my nose. I recently became a Glossier Rep (this means I’ll get to try out new products and share them with you, as well as earn commission when you shop through my page) and Cloud Paint is one of the many Glossier products I’m obsessed with right now. You can check out my page here (fun fact: I had to film an intro video… I’m so awkward on camera)!

And last but not least, bronzer for spring. My pale skin makes me a terrible candidate for testing bronzing products. For years, my friends and fellow beauty bloggers have raved about Benefit Cosmetics Hoola Bronzer and unfortunately, I couldn’t attest to it myself… until now. Benefit recently released Hoola Lite Matte Bronzing Powder, a lighter shade for paler skin tones. I use a contouring brush to blend on top of my Cloud paint or by itself if I’m in a rush.
