Fall Drugstore Lipstick Picks - Politics of Pretty

Last year it was all about the naked lip. This season, expect to see plenty of deep reds, rich marsalas, dramatic bronzed nudes, and dusty pinks.

I usually lean towards nudes and pinks, but there’s a part of me that wants to step out of my comfort zone and based on my recent trip to Walgreens, I was able to do just that. I took four Revlon Super Lustrous Lipsticks for a test drive. From daytime demure to bold beauty, check out my Revlon beauty must-haves under $9.

For a daytime fall look, I’m going to keep Mauvy Night (creme finish) in my handbag at all times. That slightly darker lip shade just works for basically every occasion. I’ve discovered Wine With Everything will take you from desk to drinks. Fuchsia Fusion (pearl finish) and Certainly Red (creme) are perfect shades for date night. In addition to rich lip shades, defined eyes and rosy cheeks are also trending this fall. To complete my fall makeup look, I opted for a neutral taupe shadow, black gel eyeliner and a couple coats of mascara—simple, classic and gives your pout the attention it deserves.

Shopping for a drugstore lipstick can be overwhelming but just remember— the most flattering lip tone will be one or two shades darker than your natural lip color.

Need help finding the best lipstick for your complexion? Here are a few tips for picking the right lip color for you…

If you have fair skin, opt for nudes and pinks. Avoid brown lipsticks.

If you have a medium skin tone, go for roses, mauves and berries.

If you have dark skin, deep plums and reds will look gorgeous.
