The frigid winter weather is wreaking havoc on my skin, particularly my lips. I haven’t worn lipstick since the holidays because I’ve been too busy taking care of them. Sometimes any old lip balm just isn’t enough. Here’s how to keep soft lips in the winter using this simple 3-step tutorial.
First, exfoliate with a yummy lip scrub. Emphasize the yummy because you’ll be tasting this scrub. I’ve recently become hooked on Bite Beauty Whipped Cherry Lip Scrub, an all natural mousse infused with exfoliating beads to smooth and condition lips. Using your finger, coat a layer of the mousse and rub together for several seconds. Exfoliating is only necessary once or twice a week so don’t overdo it!
Next, hydrate your lips and wipe away excess scrub. I’m using Bite Beauty Lush Lip Wipes to remove dead skin cells and replenish lost moisture. It also helps mattify lips if you want to apply color later.
Finally, pick your poison. I was in the mood for a vampy lip so I opted for Lipstick Queen in Metallic Wine. Because winter temps can be brutal on your skin, avoid wearing lip products that contain drying ingredients (think artificial colors, Menthol, alcohol, camphor, and phenol).
