In Hair Color We Trust: The Perks of Being a Redhead

In September I traded in my brown locks for a radiant red hue thanks to Sassoon Salon‘s color director, Jade DelProposto-Thornton. I can’t begin to explain how much I love being a redhead. I feel more confident, it complements my complexion and it enhances my overall appearance. Not that I’m hating on my days as a brunette, for once I feel like my look is one-of-a-kind. By early November, my roots started and that’s when I realized: I STILL WANT TO BE A REDHEAD! So I booked my color appointment stat and since I was overdue for a cut, I booked that too.

I thought I’d just be getting a touch-up, but after some pretty persuasion from Jade (read: SIGN ME UP!), we decided it was time to kick it up a notch. Post-color application, there is nothing more relaxing than a nourishing deep conditioning treatment and scalp massage.

During my hair consultation with Allison Lyle, Sassoon’s creative director, I told her I wanted to go short again. Like, just above the shoulder short. Parting with my long hair has never really been an issue for me and I was totally inspired to chop it off thanks to Giuliana Rancic’s cute bob (who by the way tweeted at me last weekend.. I die!).

In case you’re wondering about the lipstick I’m wearing it’s Lipstick Queen in Metal Wine by Poppy King. They sent me a sample from The Metals collection and I have been wearing this color every day since I got it. I’ve never been much of a satin lipstick type of girl but I love the metallic finish. It’s also one of the smoothest lip formulas I have in my makeup arsenal so this has been my go-to the last few days with the chilly weather.
