My Fashion Week Beauty Essentials

What’s September without New York Fashion Week? I’m heading to the city Friday morning to cover backstage beauty for Glitter Guide (my 2nd internet home) at some of my favorite shows (think Christian Siriano, Rebecca Taylor, Cushnie et Ochs, and more). This will be my 6th season (technically it should be my 7th but an inconvenient snow storm ruined my last trip).  Never mind the not-so-fabulous parts like hustling between shows, scarfing down Fiber One bars and juggling my iPhone, camera and note book… there is something about Fashion Week in September that makes it all worth it.

Between early call times and late-night cocktail parties, my daily skin and makeup routine will be all over the place but here’s how I plan to survive with these fashion week beauty essentials:

Fashion Week Essentials

Skincare: Clinique All About Eyes Serum Rollerball—my favorite pick-me-up for those early wake-up calls. Can’t. Live. Without. It. Probably the only full-size cleanser worth packing in my tiny suitcase— my Alchimie Forever Gentle Cream Cleanser.

Face: Clinique’s new Superprimer Face Primers arrived on my doorstep this week. Perfect timing I tell ya. My go-to neutral eye shadow for every day: bareMinerals Ready Eyeshadow 2.0 in The Scenic Route… and when I’m feeling lux, Chanel Illusion D’ombre Long Wear Eyeshadow in Illusoire (a pretty metallic lavender). For a pop of color I’m bringing my new Marc Jacobs Highliner gel eye crayon in Jazz(berry). Bringing my favorite trio of mascaras (Benefit’s They’re Real, bareMinerals Lash Domination and Bobbi Brown Smokey Eye Mascara).

Lips: I’m going to keep my Aerin Rose Lip Conditioner on me at all times to keep my lips hydrated between shows. And what’s a trip to NYC without a plethora of NARS velvet matte and satin lip pencils that are ridiculously easy to apply, even when I’m in a cab flying 50 mph.

Nails: I’m going to book a mani at TenOverTen (I’ve read too many write-ups on this salon so naturally, I need to experience for myself) so until then, I’ll be wearing Deborah Lippmann’s Turn Back Time on my digits (a diamond infused base coat that makes bare nails look pretty).

Perfume: Estee Lauder’s new Modern Muse. It’s the epitome of girly but it’s a scent I can wear day or night.

Hair: I’ll be reaching for my travel-size Oribe Dry Texturizing Spray to help prolong my blowout. I also just browsed the styling menu for the soon-to-open Dream Dry… a blowout and braid for $50? Booked!

Tools: My Beautyblender will keep my foundation looking flawless. Usually I always forget to pack my Chanel eyelash curler but I will post a sticky note to my forehead if I have to in order to remember to pack it.
