A Fall Lipstick Shopping Guide For Every Budget

Lipstick is a nice substitute for extravagant purchases these days so that brings me to today’s post—a fall lipstick shopping guide! Whether you’re on the hunt for a specific shade to compliment your fall makeup look or maybe you’re just looking for a small luxury to brighten your mood during these tough times then I’ve got you covered!

I’ve categorized these lipstick picks based on price: budget friendly buys, good quality (and a reasonable price), and splurge worthy.

Budget Friendly Buys

When it comes to drugstore brands, I always gravitate to Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick. It leaves a beautiful satin finish and I think the color payoff is pretty good. The shade Black Cherry (deep burgundy) has been in my collection for a few seasons now and I recently purchased Cherries in the Snow, a gorgeous deep raspberry with a cool undertone. There’s also the Maybelline Super Stay Ink Crayon Matte Lipstick, which offers a super easy application and will last all day.

For a more sheer, buildable, hydrating lipstick, Undone Beauty’s Light On Lip in Fine Wine is a vegan formula infused with coconut and aloe vera (and only $8!).

Splurge Worthy

There are a few lipsticks in this roundup that are slighty more pricey than others but totally worth it if you love wearing lipstick and will wear it often. That’s how I feel about these particular brands.

Charlotte Tilbury in Pillow Talk is a beautiful matte nude pink and very comfortable on the lips. I also have the matching lip pencil and gloss and it’s a great trio if you ask me.

Merit is one of my favorite splurge-worthy beauty brands. I love the light, buildable, hydrating texture of their Signature Lip Lightweight Lipstick. I have the shades Millennial (classic pink) and Baby (neutral pink).

Rare Beauty Lip Souffle Matte Cream Lipstick is so easy to apply for the makeup beginner (no lip liner needed) and the finish is a beautiful blotted lip. I really love Heroic (true berry) and Inspire (bright red) is on my wish list.

If you want to splurge on an expensive lipstick but don’t want to pay full-price, then I would recommend holding off on these until the next Sephora sale.

Nice Quality & Reasonable in Price

Maybe you don’t want to spend a lot but you also don’t want a drugstore dupe, then these middle of the range lipsticks are right up your alley!

There’s a reason why Clinique Almost Lipstick in Black Honey is a cult beauty favorite. It’s a sheer, lip balm-like formula that will fuse with the natural tone of your lips for a shade that’s unique to you. Tower 28 ShineOn Lip Jelly Gloss in Pistachio (milky nude pink) is another tube that looks like my lips but better.

Personally, I find Mary Kay’s semi-matte lipstick in Crushed Berry to be the best underrated lip color.

Glossier launched Ultralip this year and to say I’m obsessed is an understatement. It’s a must-have for any makeup minimalist. The formula combines the sheen of a gloss, the moisture of a balm and a tinted lipstick. I always carry Villa (a dusty rose) in my handbag and they have several other shades, most of which are great neutrals for daytime wear.

I’m also a big fan of liquid lipsticks.  And you can never go wrong with the Sephora Cream Lip Stains—for $15, the price is always right and they have so many shades to choose from.
