Chances are if you’re reading this blog post, you’ve realized something looks different. And unlike any typical makeover that involves lots of makeup and hair spray, this one involved many PDF drafts and a fabulous web designer. Welcome to the new and improved Politics of Pretty!

It’s crazy to think I started this blog just a little less than a year ago and I’m so proud of how much it’s grown and what it’s become—a go-to source for all things makeup, hair, skincare and spa in the District.

I wanted my new website to be modern but still pay homage to the city that I love and grew up in (I’m a third generation Washingtonian) without any loud red, white and blue flags (because anyone that lives in this area knows, it’s so much more than that!). If you take a minute to browse my new site, you can now search by category (makeup, hair, skincare and spa) for new products, reviews, trends, and features on my favorite Washingtonians and the best spas and salons that we love to go to. If you scroll down, you’ll see some favorite DC-centric columns like Bill of Makeup Rights, State of the Face, In Hair Products We Trust, and a slightly modified nail series that you all know and love, On File (formerly “Mani Monday”). And for beauty junkies and newbies looking to see what’s on my vanity, you can now shop my tried and true products!

I also wanted to take this time to express a very grateful thank you to an outstanding graphic designer, Lisa Butler of Elembee Designs who developed and designed this new website. To all my fellow bloggers: if you’re in need of a website makeover, contact Lisa! She’s the best!

I’d love to hear what you all think about my new look! Feel free to leave a comment below or connect with me on Twitter and Facebook!

xoxo
